Salame Aquila (Salame Abruzzese Classico): a historic product of Sorrentino's company, it is one of the first salumi made by Nonno Marino and today represents the flagship of our range.
Originally from the Aquilano area, this typical salume is now produced throughout the Abruzzo region and imitated in other parts of Italy as well. Until the 1960s, production was exclusively homemade; today, it makes use of modern machinery while maintaining the processing secrets handed down from generation to generation. The origins of this salami probably date back to the Goth and Lombard shepherds who settled in our mountains.
With its typical flat shape, selected meats and natural casing, Salame Aquila is an item of excellence exported all over the world. Its very fine mincing and sweet, unmistakable taste make it our best-selling salami.
The current recipe faithfully reflects Grandfather Marino's tradition, with dosages and ingredients remaining unchanged to ensure a consistently good product.
Salame Aquila is a proud winner of prestigious awards, including the "Abruzzo Quality Award" for Best Salami, the Red Award at the Merano Wine Festival and the title of Best Salami at the Glutenfree Expo in Rimini.
