The Aquila Salami (Classic Abruzzese Salami) is a historic product of the Sorrentino company and one of the first cured meats made by Grandpa Marino. Today, it represents the flagship of our range.
This traditional cured meat, originally from the Aquilano area, is now produced throughout the Abruzzo region and imitated in the rest of Italy. Until the 1960s, its production was entirely homemade. Today, machines are used, often by the same families who have passed down the secrets of this specialty for centuries. Its origins likely date back to Gothic and Lombard shepherds who settled in our mountains many centuries ago.
The typical flat shape, the fully denervated selected meats, and the natural casing make it an excellent product we export worldwide.
With its extremely fine grind and sweet, unmistakable flavor, it has become our best-selling salami.
The current recipe faithfully reflects the tradition of this product. We have kept the doses and ingredients of Grandpa Marino’s first recipe unchanged to offer our consumers a consistently delicious product.
Our Aquila Salami (Classic Abruzzese Salami) has won the "Abruzzo Quality Award" for Best Salami, the Red Award at the Merano Wine Festival, and Best Salami at the Glutenfree Expo in Rimini.
